Alex Eagle

“Portrait of Curiosity” illuminates the passions and intimate musings of one fabulous woman of substance. In our ninth instalment, we talk to London-based Creative Director Alex Eagle.

A globally respected aesthete, Alex Eagle is the creative director of Alex Eagle Studio and The Store; two concept-led projects revolutionising and redefining the limits of retail. Nestled amongst the hubbub of Soho’s Lexington Street, her eponymous boutique transcends the status of a store - a homely oasis of meticulously curated fashion, bespoke tailoring, beauty, vintage furniture, art and beyond. Similarly, with locations in Berlin, Oxfordshire and 180 The Strand, The Store emphasises cross-disciplinary collaborations, blurring the lines between shopping, communal workspace and cultural hub.

01 WHAT I FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT CURATING A SPACE (BE IT RETAIL OR OTHER) IS

Seeing others spend time there. Time is precious so I’m always so thrilled when people choose to spend it in one of my spaces.

02 MY SECRET INGREDIENT IS

light and space, and of course Eagle & Hodges Furniture. I'm currently eyeing the Eagle & Hodges Corner Sofa.

03 THE DESIGN ERA I'M ALWAYS DRAWN TO IS

Mid Century - Jean Prouvé, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand ...

04 AN ARTWORK OR DESIGN I WISH I HAD CREATED

Yves Klein Blue.

05 A TECHNIQUE OR PROCESS THAT FASCINATES ME IS

the making of our amazing, tailored pieces in-house at Alex Eagle Studio.

06 I OWN A COLLECTION OF

hand-blown glasses.

07 I AM INSPIRED BY THE INTERIORS OF

Charlotte Perriand.

08 THE OBJECT I'VE TREASURED FOR THE LONGEST IS

my dad’s old grey sweatshirt.
