Leah Forsyth-Steel & Victoria Spicer

“Portrait of Curiosity” illuminates the passions and intimate musings of one fabulous woman of substance. In our first instalment, we talk to London-based founders of Monument Store, Leah Forsyth-Stell and Victoria Spicer.

Devoted collectors of the crafted, distinct and rare, Leah Forsyth-Steel and Victoria Spicer are the co-founders of homeware store Monument. With backgrounds spanning curation, production and design, the pair were inevitably drawn together by an admiration for one another’s mutual aesthetic and philosophy. Believing that curating a personal space with objects of individuality, history and permeance enriches life, so the project was formed; a platform for others to curate their own collections.

01 THE REASON WE STARTED MONUMENT STORE IS

to build a business around our personal obsession.

02 THE OBJECT I'VE TREASURED FOR THE LONGEST IS

LEAH a little handmade ceramic cup I found in Sydney 17 years ago, supposedly from Germany early 20th century.

VICTORIA my original 1970’s Metafora table by Massimo & Lella Vignelli. At the time this was a huge investment for me and I couldn’t even fit in my apartment. I used to just have the four pieces on display.

VICTORIA Minjae Kim: pictured here.

05 MY HOME WOULD FEEL ODD WITHOUT

LEAH shelves brimming with my collection and the warmth it brings.

VICTORIA sculptures and my collection of chairs.
